Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the way devices communicate and interact within networks, enabling the development of smart cities, healthcare systems, industrial automation, and more. However, the rapid expansion of IoT networks, characterized by a vast number of connected devices, dynamic topologies, and diverse communication technologies, poses significant challenges for efficient data routing. This research explores the performance of various routing protocols in IoT-based computer networks, with a focus on addressing key issues such as scalability, energy efficiency, security, and the adaptability of protocols to dynamic network conditions. Through a series of experiments, the study evaluates existing and novel IoT routing protocols under different network scenarios, measuring metrics such as packet delivery ratio, energy consumption, network latency, and security resilience. The results indicate that while traditional protocols like AODV and DSR perform well in small networks, they struggle to maintain efficiency and scalability as network size and complexity increase. In contrast, the proposed routing protocols, which incorporate energy-efficient mechanisms and enhanced security features, demonstrate improved performance in terms of energy consumption, scalability, and robustness to topology changes. The research provides valuable insights into optimizing routing protocols for IoT environments, offering recommendations for protocol selection based on application-specific needs such as low latency, high throughput, and energy conservation. The findings contribute to the development of more reliable, secure, and sustainable IoT networks, enabling the effective implementation of IoT technologies in real-world applications.
